The Sea Bean Began As A Niche That Needed To Be Filled.
When the owners arrived in Seward in 2003, there were no internet cafes. They decided that locals and visitors alike could benefit from a cozy, centrally located place to relax and catch up with a warm beverage. They acquired and renovated a historical downtown Seward building, decorated it in an eclectic, nautical style, and opened for business in 2006.
The quirky coffee hotspot has since blossomed into one of the best places to catch a casual meal in Seward. The café features a wide selection of paninnis, daily soups, smoothies, locally made bread, pastries and cookies. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menu items are available.
On the beverage menu, you’ll find custom-blended, organic, fair-trade espresso, organic Kaladi Brothers coffee, teas from Golden Moon and Intelligentsia, and chai made in Alaska. Customers can choose from a full range of added flavors, as well as dairy-free milk options.
One computer is available, free of charge, for customers, as well as high-speed WiFi.
“A truly community-minded business, the Sea Bean is open year-round and has made it a point to help fill the long winter hours with not only caffeine, but culture as well. The café is a regular venue for open-mic music sessions, community art shows, and even weekly movies.”
The Sea Bean’s convenient location, delicious menu, fast internet, and friendly service make it the ideal meeting place for locals and the perfect home-base for travelers.
