This summer, we added an expanded menu of allergen friendly items to our menu to see how they’d do. The response has been overwhelming. We’re so glad they are such a huge hit, and are happy to be able to fill a niche that has been ignored in Seward for so long.
What made us decide to go with an expanded menu?
I have tons of food intolerances- gluten, corn, soy, dairy, eggs, and almonds are the big ones, which has made eating out in a small town next to impossible. I was reduced to eating salads with olive oil every time my family went out to eat. I couldn’t even eat the food in our own cafe any longer, so I decided to add things that I could eat.
Now when I’m hungry, I can grab a Mt. Marathon bar, a cookie, or a Triton smoothie (berries & coconut milk- yum!). I still can’t eat our gluten-free bread, because there’s eggs in it, but our customers have a gluten free sandwich option now.
We hope to add more to the allergen free expanded menu- a lettuce wrap option as a sub for regular wraps/sandwiches, anyone? We’d love your ideas, comments, suggestions!
